       The IAFF Local 244 Executive Board is accepting letters of interest for City 4th Steward for the next 14 calendar days. The Executive Board will appoint a member to serve in this position on February 4, 2021 until the next General Election in accordance with the IAFF Local 244 Constitution & Bylaws, Article VI, Section 5.

      Local 21 regrets to announce the passing of retired Firefighter George F. Ubel. Firefighter Ubel started with the Saint Paul Fire Department on January 01, 1958 and retired in 1991 from Ladder 24 on the A Shift. George F. Ubel George passed away on January 09, 2021 at the age of 91.

Two officers – Chair Pete Carozza (Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters of Connecticut) and Vice-Chair Bobby Lee (Hawaii State Fire Fighters Association) were re-elected to their positions.

We hope that you can join the Trans NH Bike Ride on June 27th in Portsmouth, NH as the MDA needs your help more than ever. he 2021 hybrid version of the Trans NH Bike Ride will be a major transition step toward what we expect will be a return to normalcy in 2022: the incredible 35th anniversary of the ride. For 2021 we are offering a full-month virtual option (like 2020) along with a one-day in-person ride or a combination of both as described below.

      Local 21 regrets to announce the passing of retired Fire Equipment Operator Richard Topp. FEO Topp started with the Saint Paul Fire Department on April 02, 1965 and retired after 40 years.  Richard spent most of his career assigned to Engine Company 06. Richard passed away on December 19, 2020 at the age of 79. Richard A.

      Local 21 regrets to announce the passing of retired Firefighter Arthur Schmugge. Firefighter Schmugge started with the Saint Paul Fire Department on January 01, 1951 and retired in 1987.  Art spent most of his career assigned to Engine Company 13. Art passed away on December 23, 2020 at the age of 98.
      West Maplewood Dr. Structure Fire
      12/27/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
      At 4:10 p.m. on Saturday December 26, 2020, Local 2086 and 1309 members responded to a house fire on W. Maplewood Drive in Unincorporated Jefferson County. A large black plume of smoke on scene could be seen from miles away. When Battalion Chief 1 arrived, he found heavy fire conditions in the garage extending to two vehicles parked in the driveway and threatening the rest of the home.
      DAD's Landfill Trash Fire
      12/26/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
      At 3 p.m. on Friday, December 25th, Local 2086 and 5280 members responded to several reports of heavy smoke coming from the top of DADS landfill, located at 3500 S. Gun Club Road in Arapahoe County. Members from Engine 23 saw the plume of smoke from their station and additional resources were dispatched.
      Highlands Ranch Water Rescue
      12/26/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
      At 12:38 p.m. on Christmas Day, Local members responded to a 911 call reporting a dog had fallen through the ice at Cheese Ranch Park in Highlands Ranch. When members from Station 17 arrived a short time later, the dog was already under water. A member wearing a drysuit immediately attempted a search and rescue effort but was unable to locate the 7-year-old English Bulldog.
      Settlers Drive Structure Fire
      12/26/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
      At 5:40 a.m. on Friday December 25, 2020, Local members responded to a house fire on Settlers Drive in Unincorporated Douglas County. When Battalion Chief 4 arrived on scene, he found smoke and flames on the backside of the house. Members from Engine 41 stretched an 1 3/4” hose line for fire attack. Because of the heavy fire conditions, the fire extended into the attic space.
      Chalet Circle Barn Fire
      12/26/20 - South Metro Firefighters IAFF LOCAL 2086
      Just before 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday December 23, 2020, Local 2086 and 4116 members along with Elizabeth Fire Rescue responded to an outbuilding fire on Chalet Circle in Unincorporated Douglas County. When members arrived on scene, they found a barn on fire. Crews pulled a horizontal standpipe for fire attack and tenders brought extra water to the scene with this barn being in an unhydranted area.
